Istanbul Bound

with 3 comments

My friend Ece has spent the past 4 years in Boston going to school at Babson, and sadly it’s her time to return to her home of Istanbul, Turkey.  Fortunately we had a chance to get together before she left to take some shots.  We were able to take advantage of a variety of spots and landmarks in and around Harvard Square and MIT.  We especially had fun at the Stata Center at MIT.

Make Music Cambridge

with 3 comments

I had the privilege today to attend  Make Music Cambridge today in Harvard Square.  There were many great musicians and some dedicated crowds that braved the drizzly Boston weather to make the event a great success.  I want to personally recognize my friend Alexis Berthier for organizing yet another great music festival in Harvard Square.  The first images are of a wildly talented Berklee College of Music student Silvina Moreno.  She was joined inside of the entry way at The Coop by her classmate Eddie.   Also, for the first time, there is a video shot with my Nikon D90 of Silvina and Eddie performing.  The remainder of the images here are of a variety of musicians throughout the event.

Cambridge River Festival

with one comment

I attended my first Cambridge River Festival this afternoon and I didn’t know what to expect.  What I got was gorgeous weather and lots of good people watching.  I took some inspiration today from Bill Cunningham of the NY Times.  The first image is of Suzanne, she runs Fusion Ethos Fashion.  Enjoy!

Spring Love in Boston’s North End

with 3 comments

I was lucky enough to get two of the most camera-friendly people in front of my lens for a great shoot on a Sunday evening in the North End of Boston.  At first I thought that the light would limit what we would be able to get, but we were able to capture the fleeting light for this great second shot.

Jewelry/Art Photos

with 2 comments

I always enjoy when I’m able to find other people that share my passion for and create their own type of art; In November 2008 I found such a person.  Shortly after I started to work with Katrina Fedukowski I really found how how talented and detail-oriented she was.  After a few months of getting to know her I found out that she was into a number of artistic endeavors— sculpture, sewing, and digital graphics.  She not only created great pieces, she studied how they should be constructed and went about creating them, she constructed and re-constructed them late into the night.

After another lengthy study session she recently started to create art out of reclaimed silver wire.  She would probably correct me on my definition of what she is doing and creating, but there is no denying that she has made a few great pieces.  I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Torque (Torq) and Wand that she created and to photograph them.  The images of the Torque and the Wand demonstrate her detailed studies of the style and I’m happy to share her art with you.

The other related subject that I find interesting which I would love to discuss is: No matter what artform you choose— paiting, sculpture, etc.– digitization and the internet forces you to change the art’s medium so that you can communicate it with the masses.  I’m happy to say that digital photography has made this all possible.  Don’t believe me?  Try shopping on Zappos.com to find your next pair of shoes.  Impossible without digital images!  I’m definitely not trying to say that digital images are replacing other forms art, far from it, but they make it more accessible to the masses and I’m happy to be bringing part of it to you!
